The French newspaper Libération described Samy Thiébault’s performance as dancing somewhere between trance and spiritual communication.

Samy Thiébault was born in the Ivory Coast to two teachers, and received a traditional musical education at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux before entering the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris to study jazz. While studying music, he also obtained a Master’s degree in philosophy, with high honors, from the Sorbonne (2001).

Drawing on fifteen years of friendship and a shared passion for jazz music, tenor saxophonist Samy Thiébault’s quartet has focused since the early 2000s around four gifted musicians: Adrien Chicot at the piano, Sylvain Romano on upright bass, Philippe Soirat on drums, and of course Samy Thiébault on tenor sax and flute. These four artists share a taste for musical adventure all the while remaining attached to the oral and popular traditions of jazz. The group has released six albums since their first in 2004, the latest was released in 2016. Samy is bringing two of his friends, Philippe and Sylvain, to Bali.
